The network is based in Sweden, with collaborating institutions in over 15 countries. Since INFORM began in 2004, it has provided training in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, South Africa, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, the Congo, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Two regional workshops have also been held for researchers in Africa.
Requests for future training have been received from most countries where INFORM workshops have been held, as well as Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Cameroon, Somaliland, Sudan, Botswana, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Nepal, Laos, and Cambodia.
Within health, INFORM’s major activities include a national ‘saturation’ training programme in Vietnam (reaching a thousand health professionals), an Africa-wide project delivering information training at malaria research centres, a regional project for researchers in East African countries, and a planned multinational project in Asia regarding information relevant to maternal-and-child health and survival.
