INFORM's training covers a full range of free, Web-based, professional information resources available in the country hosting the training.
Normally 50-75 specific resources are introduced over a 5-day period. The content depends on the topic. A health information workshop, for example, would introduce access programmes such as HINARI and PERii (which provide full-text journal articles, free-of-charge), national digital libraries and other locally arranged access programmes, gateways for evidence-based medicine and clinical guidelines, resources about specific medical topics, sources for medical e-books, medical search engines, materials for teaching, including medical videos, and more.
For each workshop, INFORM produces a printed sourcebook of 125-175 pages covering online resources relevant to the workshop subject. Participants receive this book, printouts of the workshop PowerPoint shows and hands-on exercises, and a CD with the corresponding digital files. All INFORM training materials are copyright free so that participants can copy and distribute them to their colleagues and students. The materials may also be translated, and INFORM sourcebooks on various topics have already been translated into Hindi, Urdu, Farsi, Chinese, Russian, and Vietnamese.
