Current and upcoming activities


  • Mentoring of master trainers presenting regional and local workshops within the national Vietnamese programme, throughout 2010, including site visits to Danang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Thai Nguyen in March-April 2010.
  • An elective 2-week course, Information Seeking in Medicine: Tapping the International Resources, offered through the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Uppsala University, April 2010. Taught in English and open to master’s level participants from all countries.
  • Information training within the Sida-supported International Training Programme on Child Survival, held at Uppsala University with participants from Africa, April 2010.
  • Information training within the Sida-supported International Training Programme on Children in Especially Difficult Circumstances, held at Save the Children, Sweden, with participants from Asia, April 2010.
  • An elective 2-week course, Information Seeking in Medicine and Health, offered through the Department of Women's and Children's Health, Uppala University, August-September 2010. Taught in English and open to master's level participants from all countries.
  • Information training units within the Sida-supported International Training Programme on Strengthening Midwifery, held at Karolinska Institute with collaboration from Uppsala University, October 2010.
  • Information training for researchers and doctoral students at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua, as part of an ongoing collaboration with Uppsala University, Sweden, November 2010.


Other activities being discussed with partners


  • Information training in Vietnam on pharmaceutical topics, in collaboration with the new National Centre on Drug Information; joint proposal being prepared.
  • Advanced information training in Vietnam for researchers at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; funding being sought.
  • Further training at the Université de Kinshasa, Kinshasa, DR Congo, within the EU-supported EDULINK project.
  • Development of a regional network on information resources to support maternal and child health and survival in Asia. Programme details being negotiated with key institutions and organizations; funding to be sought during the first half of 2010.
  • Training, troubleshooting, and other information-related support for a programme on evidence-based health systems in west Africa; being discussed with the responsible international agency.
